One Year Later One year later (September 2000), Murphy is doing very well. He is healthy and happy. He is not only walking, he has learned to run and climb stairs again. His walk is much more stable and he can go for short walks without his cart. With his cart, he can walk the loop around Valley Forge National Park (about 5 miles). All the exercise has helped strengthen his hind quarters and back. Control of his bladder is much improved. He knows when he has to go outside and lets you know, but on occasion, he will get excited and lose control. I still express his bladder at least three times a day, and always before we go to bed as a precaution. As for bowel, he has excellent anal tone and reactions, but seems to have little or no sensation as to if he is going or not. We are hoping, in time, this too will return. Other Battles
